The Kapolei Chamber continues to advocate for the business community of Kapolei. There is a bill going through the Hawaii State Legislature that will help bring more jobs to Kapolei. HB943 passed out of the House Finance Committee this week and is expected to crossover to the Senate. Click HERE to see the current status. To review HB943, click HERE.
The Kapolei Jobs Initiative Pilot Program would provide incentives for businesses to establish or open a new location in the Kapolei region, helping to reduce traffic and realize the State's long standing policy of directing growth to West Oahu.
Job growth in Kapolei is lagging behind population growth. This is evident in the traffic congestion caused by the number of people who still have to commute to downtown Honolulu for work every day. Job creation in the Kapolei region is a quality-of-life, community-building concern affecting employers and employees alike as households in the Kapolei region continue to grow exceeding the number of jobs.
Thank you to all who have submitted testimony on this measure. To receive notification on future hearings for this bill, click HERE or subscribe to the Kapolei Chamber's mailing list on the bottom of our home page.
